After New Year 2010 together with the family of Alejandra's brother we made a trip to Susques visiting the "Puna Sur". Our first stop was in Purmamarca where this nice photo of Juana and Ale has been taken: Do you notice the Ethiopian style of Alejandra?



Ya Purmamarca está a una altura de 2200 mts. De ahí subímos por la Cuesta de Lipán para arriba ... bien arriba donde se encuentran las nubes:



Über einen Pass kommend fahren wir wieder bergab und haben in der Ferne die Salina Grande vor uns:



Observing the landscape on the way to Salinas Grandes we found "Guanakos". It's not easy to identify them because of their color similar to the landscape around. It was Sergio's son José noticing first the Guanakos:



Lo blanco lo que se ven aqui no es nieve, es sal! Cruzando la Salina Grande, es espectular:



Salz, Salz, Salz, soweit das Auge reicht! Natürlich habe ich das Salz auch probiert: Echt salzig! Da es mein erstes Mal in einer Salzwüste ist bin ich echt begeistert. Das Salz hier wird übrigens kommerziell abgebaut. Wir konnten sogar mit dem Auto hineinfahren... José hatte ein Schürfwunde am Fuß und es gab Tränen, weil Salz in die Wunde kam.



Leaving the salt lake behind and entering the curved road of the mountains we saw Lamas crossing:



Las llamas tienen pelaje mas largo y son de diferentes colores, más blanco, más marrón, de un marrón oscuro o multicolor. Son de la misma familia de los camellos como los guanacos. El guanaco es silvestre las llamas son domesticadas.



Vor Susques haben wir dieses schöne Tal mit dem Fluss durchquert:



Susques esta a una altura de casi 3700 mts y ahí fuimos a comer. Sergio estaba apunado asi pasó mal el resto de viaje.

La vista al Nevado de Chani nos acompanó al regreso:



The Nevado de Chani is a volcano, 5896 mts high with eternal snow on the top. The volcano is located just on the regional border between Jujuy and Salta.
